This volume features all four publications of the periodical from 1926, including the issue with George Stewart's Master's Thesis on Robert Louis Stevenson's famous pirate novel Treasure Island. Using research on Stevenson's life and writings, Stewart located the actual island in Monterey Bay that inspired the novel. George Rippey Stewart, a longtime English Professor at UC Berkeley, published 28 books of fiction and nonfiction between 1930 and his death in 1980. He was known for his multi-disciplinary approach, combining insights from geography, history, anthropology, and ecology with masterful storytelling.
