Beschreibung
"Lost race" novel bearing some resemblance to Haggard's "She," though in this case it's a "yellow" race that our intrepid explorer discovers hidden away in darkest Africa (oddly enough), ruled by the imperious Queen Raamanita. Next-to-last of the British author's 34 (!) known novels. Cullum/Burghard (1867-1943) joined the gold rushes in both the Transvaal and the Yukon, and spent a few years cattle-ranching in Miontana. He's best-known for his Westerns, including "The Twins of Suffering Creek" (1912), some of which were made into silent films. No later printings mentioned, which absence identifies this as a Lippincott first. The "good" original jacket came to us with some yellowed, old-fashioned nitrate tape to the OUTSIDE of most jacket corners; we've removed most of this stuff, though a little remains to head & heel of spine. Not price clipped; original $2.00 price showing. 341 pp., here reduced from $235. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 008404
