In fact he takes his title from a line of poetry by Tu Fu: 'Within the vermilion gates, / meats and wines go to waste / While on the roadside lie the / frozen bodies of the poor." --- Original black cloth boards, lettered red on spine with red motif on front board (20.1 cm height).
