Engraved throughout by Charles Sigrist, title-page by Stephen Gooden Sides just a little marked and minor staining to rear end-papers, otherwise a very nice copy 303 copies were printed in all. This is inscribed and signed by Sassoon on the front free end-paper: "This copy is one of two, out of series, specially bound for C.H. Wilkinson, for the mutual satisfaction of himself and the author." With Colonel Wilkinson s bookplate and leather book-label. Wilkinson was Vice-Provost of Worcester College, Oxford, Librarian of the College and a curator at the Bodleian. He served in the Coldstream Guards during the Great War and was a lecturer in poetry and English Literature generally. Specially bound by Riviere & Son in full dark red panelled morocco, sides with triple fillets gilt, spine with raised bands, compartments gilt, lettered and dated and with the author s monogram gilt, all edges and inner dentelles gilt.
