[2], (iii-vii), [1], [1], 2-301 pp, [3] adverts, t.e.g., gilt tooling to board edges and turn-ins, book plate to fpd (Percy J & Alice G Cropper. Nottingham), binders label to fpd (Frank Murray, Nottingham), old catalog description tipped to verso fep, small Nottingham Library ink stamp to base of to V1 & 2, plus base end pages V1 & 2. {Signatures: [4], B-O8. [1], A2 only, [2], B-O7, [1] adverts}. (ESTC T92756). (164*99 mm). Rare, no copy traced at auction and ESTC listing only 7 copies, 3 in the US and 3 in the UK, including this one. Attributed to Paltock by ODNB, who also wrote the Life and Adventures of Peter Wilkins, a Cornish man in 1751. The 'Monthly Review', in some six lines of condemnation, considers Virtue triumphant to have been written for the express entertainment of the kitchen, but no details given, and no copy of the book is accessible!.
