Attractively rebound in contemporary half light blue buckram over marbled boards with gilt titles. A nice looking binding with bumped extremities. The original orange wrappers are bound in with 243 pages of text. From the collection of Henry Vignaud with his bookplate affixed. A well known US Consul in Paris for 34 years who was a scholar and collector of historic explorations and discoveries. Vignaud built a fine 50,000 library of Americana and gained an international reputation as an historian for his work on Columbus. An additional bookplate was removed at some point.
