Original printed wrappers. Addendum. First edition, rare: the first tourist guide dedicated solely to Bahrain. The plethora of illustrations includes a half-tone portrait of Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, ruler of Bahrain, a picture of the Sheikh visiting an American aircraft carrier, a portrait of his eldest son, Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, the Sheikh's palace at Rifaa al-Gharbi, pearl divers, falcons and falconers, aerial views of Manama city, Muharraq town and the tumuli of Aali, Manama fort, a Bahrain Petroleum Company refinery, Suq al-Khamis market, Adari Pool, and more. At a scale of 1:600, the plan of Manama details principal buildings and places of interest, including the old and new palace, Juma Mosque, the Aramco office, schools, hospitals, cinemas, churches and cemeteries.
