Written by UK minister and author Forbes Edward Winslow, under the pseudonym Michael Rustoff.'What Will Mrs. Grundy Say?' is a satirical novel telling the story of a woman described as 'A calamity on two legs'. In 'Victorian Fiction in the UK', Darko Suvin remarked that the "Narrator flies in balloon to a planet with State control and euthanasia. Spirit separated from body. Slight." (p. 47).Rustoff writes in his preface that the 'Book for Men' label on the front cover is to dissuade women from reading, due to the uncomplimentary nature of the book. Mrs. Grundy is the label given to a person who is highly concerned with moral behaviour and conventional propriety, with the title of this work suggesting she would not approve of the conduct discussed. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with light soiling to cloth and slight bumping to the extremities. Rear hinge has failed, with the front hinge holding on by one or two cords. Bookseller label to front paste down and ink inscription to the verso of the front endpaper.
