Publisher's original blue cloth, front and rear boards illustrated in gilt, gilt border to front board, spine lettered in gilt, top edge gilt. A very good book with clean blue boards. There is light rubbing/softening to the spine tips and also to the corners of the front and rear boards. Internally the inner text is clean with a few sporadic finger marks throughout the text. There is a small previous owner's name in ink to the top corner of the front free end-paper. Both end-papers are lightly offset. NB: The book is the first state with NO printed number to page ix. The dustwrapper is priced 7/6 net to the spine (as called for) and is VG indeed. there are two short closed tears and associated creases to the bottom-edge of the back panel and one comparable closed tear to the top-edge of the back panel. The front panel has a tiny chip from the top edge. The head of the spine has a shallow chip just affecting the lettering. The spine is lightly toned (but less so than normally found).
