A collection of 100 problems by various composers, in varying lengths, including some self-mates and a mate in 32 as well as 2, 3 and 4 movers. In all, the predominant feature is the use of the white knights to effect or assist the mate; many incorporate the two white knights with kings and pawns. Hume provides an explanatory introduction. He wrote several books about chess composition: The enjoyment of chess problems (1943), How to solve chess problems (1945), and One hundred years of the American two-move chess problem; a collection of 212 compositions by United States problemists (1962).
