Octavo (19cm); publisher's blue-green pictorial cloth, stamped in white and black on spine and front cover; 496pp. Spine faded, with titling nearly rubbed away; peacock device and lettering on front board partially flaked, but still perfectly legible; corners rubbed; wear at the foot of the spine. New York " Two-Cent per Day" lending library decal front paste down; former owners signature first free end paper; small Bretanos decal rear paste down. Hinges split but holding; text block surprisingly clean, bright and tight-no writing, no foxing. First issue does not have censorship of later printings and this copy has all pages intact.
