This NF book was published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1944; it is a first edition and is 7-5/8" x 4-7/8", with 215 numbered pages; there is a frontis only, on plain paper. The book is square, very clean, free of corner bumps and edge dings; the spine ends are barely bumped, without fabric damage, only very minor color loss. Bottom edges have very little wear. The front board is bowed very slightly. The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any type and paper damage of any sort. The paper is heavily toned (it was WWII and there was a paper shortage, so many books then used highly acidic paper) but still quite flexible and not at all brittle. The hinges are both quite strong and not damaged in any way. The NF jacket has no fading, only very mild toning, with no tears and no chips. The jacket's upper rear corner is clipped. The front panel, as is true of all 8 books in this series, is quite colorful, exciting and action-packed.
