With Scribner seal and letter 'A' to copyright page denoting First Printing. An early collection of fourteen of the author's stories. In black cloth with gold title panels to front cover and spine. Red tinting to top page ends likely has been touched up with marker as some bleed into page ends. Light wear to corners and spine ends. A few dents to top of front board and general abrasions, marks and small stains to boards. Black marker used to head and heel of spine, top edge of rear board and possibly a few other edges. May have had sticker to bottom of spine. Small marks and scars to gold labels with creasing to one on spine as well. Bookplate to front pastedown and small number stamp to rfep. Small newspaper clipping about Hemingway stamp in 1989 laid in. Tanning to endpapers and to a lesser extent text block. Small comment with drawing in pencil to page following ffep.
