Quite uncommon juvenile work described in the Buffalo Commercial, 04 Oct, 1913 as "an altogether delightful nature fairy story. The fairies represent flowers, birds and so on and depict the outdoor life of a year. As an educational book for children, Wonder-Oak can be recommended. It has a charm that is given added force by the illustrations of May Aiken." Bertha Currier Porter lived in Massachusetts and wrote stories, plays, and other books such as "Timothy and Trudy," for children. Worldcat locates a single copy in the Library of Congress. 8vo, 163pp. Red cloth lettered in black with white, red, and green illustration to upper board. Full color frontis and sixteen monotone vignette and full page illustrations throughout by May Aiken. Good condition, cloth worn at joints, spine ends, and corners, some soiling and smudging to boards. Front hinge starting, former owner's gift inscription to front pastedown, else clean internally.
