Volume 63 of Samuel Butler's "Lives of the Most Eminent English Poets" series, with the works of David Mallet (1705-1765) and Mark Akenside (1721-1770). First printed in 1781; this is a Very Good (Plus) copy of a Later Printing. Mottled tree calf leather binding with Greek ruling on the covers in gilt; the spine is decorated in gilt, with black compartments for "British Poets," "63," and "Mallet Akenside." Clean text; 387 pages, with the Contents in the rear; marbled endpapers. Suiperior textblock, very bright and clear. Bumps to the corners, chip on the foot of the spine. The covers are cracked on the outside at the spine, but currently holding well. An attractive book that presents very nicely; Quercus would recommend some reinforcement to preserve it for another 200 years. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 004855
