In this work comprised of twenty two chapters, M. M. Mallock instructs her readers on how to make a broad range of foods including soups, pastries, jellies, and compotes. As well as offering advice on the preparation of poultry and fish, the volume also contains a chapter on how manage food expenditure and keep weekly accounts. Paper for front and rear pastedown carries the symbol of the Royal Army Pay Corps, which was the corps of the British Army responsible for handling financial matters before it was amalgamated into the Adjutant General Cr in 1992.
