Green cloth, a little rubbed and age-discoloured to edges, bumped to corners and spine. Gilt lettering and decoration to spine inside red text box. Binding strong. Light foxing to endpapers. Illustrated title page. x, 122pp., colour and b/w illustrations. Contents clean and bright. Lowes Dalbiac Luard (27 August 1872 1944) was a British painter. After the war Luard's interests broadened to include landscapes and seascapes. He moved to London in 1934 and became a regular visitor to the racecourse and stables at Newmarket, where he would often paint scenes of thoroughbred racehorses training on the gallops.[2] In 1936 Faber and Faber published his book The Horse: Its Action and Anatomy, the first study of the skeleton, muscles and physiognomy of the horse since George Stubbs' treatise, The Anatomy of the Horse.
