Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 2 volumes. In dark blue cloth hardcovers with gilt titles and decoration to spines and embossed titles and decoration to fronts. No dust jackets. 986 pp. in total, gilt top edged, "with 1,400 illustrations" in black and white. The books are in very good condition. There is minor shelf-wear to the extremities of the covers including light bruising of the corners and minor damage to the heads and tails of the spines. The rear hinge to vol. 1 is cracked and the binding is a little slack. The front hinge to vol. 2 is cracked but the binding is tight. There are a few, very minor spots to the front end papers of vol.1, there are two small marks to the title page and another to the fore edge of vol. 2; otherwise the pages are remarkably clean and bright.
