Inked inscription to foot of frontispiece: 'To His Royal Highness the Prince Arthur of Connaught from his most devoted Paola Ostheim Saxony Weimar'. The first edition of a selection of letters written by King KonstantÃnos I of the Hellenes to Paola, Princess of Saxe-Weimar during the years 1912 to 1923. This copy was presented by the former wife of Prince Hermann of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (later styled Count Ostheim) (1886-1964), Italian stage actress Wanda Paola Lottero (d. 1963), to governor-general of South Africa and grandson of Queen Victoria, Prince Arthur of Connaught (1883-1938).
