Hugh Richard Lawrie Sheppard (2 September 1880 31 October 1937) was an English Anglican priest, Dean of Canterbury and Christian pacifist. From 1924, when Sheppard provided the first service ever broadcast by the BBC, his broadcast sermons gave him national fame. He established the Peace Pledge Union in 1936.
