Ink inscription to recto of FFEP 'Lucy Jellicoe' mother of Admiral of the Fleet John Jellicoe. Count Hayashi Tadasu (1850-1913), diplomat and cabinet minister of the Japanese Meiji Period. Whilst serving as resident minister to Great Britain, Hayashi worked to successfully conclude negotiations for the treaty of Anglo-Japanese Alliance in 1902.
