Although Sabin describes Les veillées de Cayenne as a "large collection of proclamations, laws, and orders issued at Cayenne, between 1790-1797" in fact it is a collection of Francesco Soave's moral tales (originally published in "Novelle Morali"; Milano: Presso Gaetano Motta, 1782) and translated from Italian by Pierre Auguste Marie Miger (1771-1837). Scarce, WorldCat locates only 4 copies worldwide, only one in the US (NYPL). Sabin 11626 . Foxing throughout, water-stains occasionally. Wormholes throughout with no effect to text.
