Circa 1844 map of Wisconsin, published 4 years before the territory gained statehood. Printed by Carey and Hart in Philadelphia. 17.5 x 14 . Hand-colored map in good condition. Minimal wear to corners and general age-related toning. Small pencil inscriptions, naming three rivers that were not named on the map. No other marginalia throughout. Includes state, county, and township borders. Please see photos. An extremely unique and scarce pre-statehood map of Wisconsin, with the north of the state heavily distorted and prior to the incorporation of most counties.
