The map also features a compass rose and a table of coordinates of London, Edinburgh, Dublin and Dunkirk. An excellent example enhanced with attractive later hand colouring. Dated in the plate. Some neat reinforcement verso of minor edge splits to the original centre fold otherwise fine condition. A striking map for framing and display.Approx. 19" x 18" (480mm x 460mm) map area only, with good margins beyond. Printed on hand laid paper which remains stable and robust, blank verso.  Please see also close up images.Nicolas De Fer (1646-1720) was the son of French mapmaker Antoine De Fer whose business was based in Paris. Nicolas eventually inherited the declining family business and boosted it to great success. He went on to become official geographer to King Louis XIV and also to Philip V of Spain.
