Without mention of 'Die Peel' in the appropriate area lower right (near Meyl). Ref: Koeman 3100:351. Engraving, hand coloured on hand laid paper. Made by 'Jodocus Hondius' after 'Gerard Mercator'. Jodocus Hondius (Joost de Hondt or d'Hondt) was a Flemish cartographer, active in London and Amsterdam. He is mainly known for his early maps of the New World and Europe, as well as re-establishing the reputation of Gerard Mercator. Very good, given age. Narrow lower margin.
