Beautiful map of Illinois printed in multicolors. See pic for complete descrition. This map celebrates the history with various vignettes: Illinois a French Possession, Raising the English Flag, American Rule begins, A Frontier Tragedy, the Advent of Statehood, A slavery controversy, Grant Begins March to Fame, A City Devastated, and at the top center Chicago's Skyline. On either side of the skyline vignette can be found small inset medallions with a portrait of the first governor, Shadrach Bond and the then present governor Henry Horner. The verso has hals devoted to photos titled "Illinois the Beautiful." This is a very nice production considering its timeframe.
