Colour map in postcard format 14x10cm, titled and labelled in Ottoman Turkish, and printed to the back with publisher's details. About very good with light wear at the edges and a corner crease. Not postally used. Ibrahim Cigiracan (1876-1963) launched his publishing company in Constantinople in 1896. He initially specialised in religious works, diversifying into geography (including atlases), military and history. He published this postcard map as part of a series in the late 1890s to early 1900s to illustrate the Imperial Ottoman Vilayet system. The Ottomans formed Aleppo Vilayet in 1866, shown here on a scale of 1:4,000,000. The inclusion of primarily Turkish-speaking cities Mara?, Antep and Urfa gave it a roughly equal number of Arabic and Turkish speakers, and a large Armenian speaking minority.
