Map of the northern part of Asia. Except for the far west of the country, the map shows all of Russia. The map is very decorative and contains interesting details such as the Great Wall of China; the northern coastline of Nova Zembla, discovered more than 10 years earlier, with information about the expedition of Willem Barentsz. from 1594-1596. Korea is depicted as an island. In the far north of Siberia there is a record of the mythological regions of Gog and Magog. Three beautiful cartouches at the bottom of the map: on the right a cartouche with title; left cartouche with a text addressed to the viewer of the map with the opening words Lectori Salutem by Jodocus Hondius; to the right of this a cartouche with scale stick. Copper engraving with nice old color, published in Amsterdam by Henricus Hondius in 1633 in "Gerardi Mercatoris et I. Hondii. Newer Atlas oder Grosses Weltbuch (.)." A fold next to the centrefold.
