_____Single large sheet of heavy paper, 18.5 x 26", printed on one side. _____ The pictorial map shows the path of the 20th Armored Division from Le Havre (Feb.18, 1945) to Aachen, crossing the Rhine and Danube Rivers to Munich and then to Salzburg (May 4th)._____ . _____ Very simple in style with scattered cartoon vignettes._____ One is of Hitler, perhaps praying for mercy._____ The compass rose has been converted into the crosshairs of a rifle scope focused on a caricature of a Japanese soldier._____ Reflecting the presumptive redeployment of the Division to the Pacific theater for the invasion of Japan. _____ The map is credited to Sgt._____John Brice. _____ We suspect it was created and printed between Salzburg and the unit's deactivation at Camp Hood Texas in 1946._____ A much smaller version of this map served as the endpapers for the unit's official history published in 1946. _____ Here it is printed on heavy, cheap paper then rolled._____ There are a few 1" edge tears and one of 4" at the upper right corner. _____ While rolled it was slightly pressed resulting in a series of bend lines up from the lower edge. _____ It has been laid out (not attached) onto a piece of artist's grade foamcore and then covered with mylar taped to the back of the foamcore. _____ It has thus been flat for the last 15+ years and will be shipped flat. _____ If memory serves the paper is very brittle and should be handled with care when or if removed. _____.
