This is a small scale early railroad map of the United States It is quite up-to-date in showing the internal improvements in the U.S. The Illinois and Michigan Railroad or Ship Canal is shown. The final resolution of a pressing choice in Illinois came in 1835 when the canal option was taken. The Columbia Railroad in PA was not founded until 1834. Cincinnati has its Canal shown and Ohio has a multitude of railroads in the Chartered category. Baltimore is the center of the B&O Railroad. Boston has its arteries in place.
