The image size is ca. 6.1 x 7.9 inch.Plate LV, LVI: le morse. This set of 2 plates shows a walrus and its tooth. These old antique prints originate from: "Histoire Naturelle Gà nà rale et Particuliere.", by de Buffon & Dauberton. Nouvelle Edition, Amsterdam J.H. Schneider, 1766. You will find more items from this work in our ebay store and on our website (use about me link). Artists and Engravers: Author: Georges-Louis Le Clerc, Comte de Buffon (1707-1788). French naturalist, mathematician, biologist, cosmologist and author. Buffon's views influenced the next two generations of naturalists, including Jean-Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin. The engravers in this work are B. de Bakker, C. Brouwer, O. de Vries, C.F. Fritzsch (1719-c.1772), Reinier Vinkeles (1741-1816), H. Vinkeles, Mittelj, G.S., R. Oakes and Fringham after Jacques de Seve (active 1744-1788), Buvee and others. These plates are engraved by C.F. Fritzsch after de Seve.Condition: Fine. general age related toning. occasional faint spots / foxing as visible on scan. Please study scan as they picture the item very well.
