6 Antique master prints, untitled. Six scenes from the history of Prussia and Brandenburg. Illustrations to "Historisch Genealogischer Calender". Two images show soldiers, another shows intruders sacking a monastery. One shows noblemen in conversation with a crowned figure behind a table. Source unknown, to be determined. Ref: Engelmann 615. Etching on laid paper. Made by 'Daniel Chodowiecki' after own design. Daniel Chodowiecki (1726-1801) was a Polish-German painter and printmaker of Huguenot ancestry. He is most famous as an etcher, and is credited with inventing the 'remarque', a small marginal doodle often not intended to be printed in the print for public Good, given age. Margins cropped close to the image edges. Individually attached at top to wove carrier w/ pencil numbering. Attached to larger carrier with photocorners.
