6 Antique master prints, untitled. The set of six small landscapes, one showing Pan chasing Syrinx into the reed. Etching on hand laid paper. Description: State: Second state of 2. Ref: Hippert & Linnig 73-78. Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Ernst Willem Jan Bagelaar' after own design. Ernst Willem Jan Bagelaar (1775-1837) was born in Eindhoven. He first entered the army, but early acquired a liking for the fine arts, and instructed himself in etching. He studied the arts by travelling through Germany and staying in Paris. Many of his etchings are based on his own designs. He had a liking of Jan Luyken, of whom he possessed a considerable collection of drawings. Condition: Very good, given age. small margins, paper somewhat browned General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
