Original tinted lithograph print. 185x250mm image size, 250x310mm with margin. The ancient market cross in Kilkenny was erected in 1335 and taken down in 1771. This print was made from an old original drawing in the collection of W. Roberts, Esq., and shows a high level of both architectural and social detail. This print was commissioned from the renowned Belfast based colour printing firm of Marcus Ward for the Journal of the Kilkenny Archaeological Society. This copy is one of a number of unused extra copies issued by the printer and never bound into Journal, therefore enjoying generous margins surrounding the main image and lettered title.
