Antique emblem print, page 502, captioned: Percussus concipit ignes (A fire lit when struck). It shows: a putti/cupid striking a flint against a stone, thus creating sparks. It signifies how St. Ignatius was brought to the love of God by being struck with a stone. This emblem is set within an ornamental border. Copperplate engraving and text on verge type hand laid paper. Text front and rear. Description: This rare authentic old antique print / plate originates from: 'Afbeeldinghe van d'eerste eeuwe der Societeyt Iesu voor ooghen ghestelt door de Duyts-Nederlantsche Provincie der selver Societeyt.' (transl.: Images of the first century of Jesuits presented by the German-Netherlands Province of said Society.), by Jean Bollandus ao., published by Plantijn/Plantin, Antwerp, 1640. This work was translated by Laurentius Uwens from the latin ed., published in the same year: 'Imago primi saeculi societatis Iesu .'
