Antique print, untitled. The Serpent coiling around the tree from which Eve picks the Apple to give to Adam. Etching/engraving on hand laid paper. Description: Separately published master print. Our definition of a Master Print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters.Artists and Engravers: Made by Van Kessel (?) after David Teniers. Theodoor van Kessel (ca. 1620-1693) was a Dutch engraver. David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690) was a Flemish artist, born in Antwerp. He was the son of David Teniers the Elder, while his son and grandson also became painters. He was a wildly prolific painter, creating over 900 works. During his life he started the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, after having presided over the Antwerp guild of painters. Condition: Very good, given age. Margins cropped to the image edge. A new margin has been created by attaching the print to a paper border. Paper tape to the rear. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
