Antique print, untitled. Costumes from Holland (a manuscript inscription specifying the localisation as 'Letandi/Letanders'). A man wearing a cloak and hat stands beside a woman with a fruit basket on her arm. Etching/engraving on hand laid paper. Description: probably fragment of the decoration of a large wallmap. Ref: undescribed. Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after C.J. Visscher. Claes Jansz. Visscher (1587-1652) was a Dutch Golden Age draughtsman, engraver, mapmaker and publisher. The Visscher family were art and map dealers in Amsterdam during the 17th century. Founded by C. J. Visscher (1587-1652), the business was continued by his son and grandson both named Nicolas. Nicolas Visscher I was born 1618 in Wenns, Austria. He died 1679 in Linz. After the death of Nicolas II, his widow passed the business to Pieter Schenk. Condition: Very good, given age. Margins cropped to the image edge. From the collection of I.H. v. Hefner-Alteneck", probably Jakob Heinrich Hefner-Alteneck to the rear.
