Antique Master Print, titled: 'Verscheurde bedelaer!' - A man being sick of excessive drinking. From a set with depictions of vanity with poetry by Samuel Ampzing. Ref: Hollstein 116 Excessive drinking. Engraving on Laid paper. Watermark: Coat of arms of Bad Hochberg Made by 'Jan van de Velde' after an anonymous artist. Jan van de Velde II (1593-1641) came from the southern Netherlands as a fugitive around 1600 to the Netherlands. His father was a writingmaster and Jan trained as an etcher. He produced many highly important series of landscape prints. Good, given age. Large margins, some soiling. Small tear in lower margin, consolidated with acid free tape, not affectin image.
