Ref: Van Huffel 124 Rare, with the full description printed with the beautiful letters by FleischmannArtists and Engravers: Made by 'Jan Jacob Bijlaert' after 'Paulus Potter'. Jan Jacob Bijlaert (1734-1809) made several very nice printdrawings. He was active in Haarlem. Paulus Potter (1625-1654) painter from Enkhuizen, who died in Amsterdam when he was not even 30 years old. He is one of the better known Dutch painters. Potter was one of the first artists ever to choose animals as his main subject, and in this he was sublime. In many eyes he was the most heralded Dutch animal artist. His art is all the more remarkable considering that he died at the age of twenty-nine and thus his oeuvre is small. He was also a printmaker, although he created only eighteen etchings.
