Antique print, titled: 'Mary Magdalen', the reclining figure of Mary Magdalene, reading. Beside her the pot of ointment with which she anointed Christ's feet. She has abandoned all her jewels and fine clothes during her penitence in the wilderness. Handcoloured stipple engraving on wove (velin) paper. Description: Separately published master print. Francesco Bartolozzi (1725-1815) was a famous Italian engraver known for his refined stipple engraving, whose most productive period was spent in London. Antonio Allegri Correggio (Italian c.1489-1534). Condition: Good, given age. A tear in the upper margin, extending a little into the image, repaired with acid free archival tape. Scattered foxing, paricularly noticable on the shoulder. Previously attached to thicker paper (partly removed, partly visible on rear). Right corners chipped.
