Contarini is one of the founding families of Venice and one of the oldest families of the Italian Nobility. Angelo Contarini (d. 1657) was Ambassador to King Charles I of England in 1625, Ambassador to Pope Urban VIII in 1629, Ambassador to the Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand III in 1637, Ambassador to Louis XIII of France in 1638, Ambassador to Pope Urban VIII in 1640, Procurator of San Marco in 1642, Ambassador to Pope Urban VIII in 1642, Ambassador to Pope Innocent X in 1646. Nicolo / Nicolaus Cavalli (1730-1822) was an Italian engraver from Longarone. He was a pupil of Guiseppe Wagner and worked in Venice. Domenico Magiotto (1713-1794) was a pupil of Piazzetta. He worked in Venice. Good, given age. Thread margins, some wrinkling and a very small tear in right margin. Remains of paper from previous attachment on rear. Light soiling and a few small stains.
