Antique Master Print, titled: 'Effigies Arnoldi Buchellii [.].' - Portrait of the historian and humanist Arnold Buchelius. Nice portrait of this famous historian. Ref: Hollstein 690 Buchelius. Engraving on laid paper. Watermark: Top of a coat of arms. Made by 'Crispyn de Passe' after 'Crispyn de de Passe'. Crispijn / Crispyn de Passe (Dutch; 1565-1637) was a very active printmaker. He started engraving in Antwerp and was later active in Cologne and Utrecht. Being highly active he and his family produced a large amount of prints, including a group of very finely engraved portraits. Very good, given age. Ample margins. Remains of paper from previous attachment on rear in top margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
