S. 108 Mezzotint on Laid paper. Watermark: Names Made by 'James Watson' after 'Francis Cotes'. James Watson (1740-1790) orginated from Dublin. He was a pupil of McArdell and mainly active as mezzotint engraver and publisher. Francis Cotes (British, 1726-1770) was one the most famous portrait painters of his day. Very good, given age. Large margins, some rubbing and foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. The overall size is ca. 59.5 x 46 cm.
