Antique print, titled: 'The Complaisant Lover', gallant scene of a young gentleman serenading his susceptible lady. Eight lines of verse below the image. Mezzotint on hand laid (verge) paper. Andrew Miller (died 1763) was an English mezzotint engraver. Although born in London, he moved to Dublin at the invitation of John Brooks. Together with Brooks he trained McArdell, Houston, Purcell and Spooner. Jacques-Francois Courtin (Sens, 1672 - 1752, Paris) was a French historical painter. Condition: Good, given age. Margins cropped to the image edge. Some scattered stains and blemishes. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
