His real name was Hussgen or Heussgen (changed to Hausschein and then into the Greek equivalent, which is derived from oikos, "house," and lampada, "lamp"). Verdussen, Antwerp 1690. This contra-reformation work deals with the origin and history of the Protestant heresy from a Catholic perspective. This work was originally published in 1605. It contains a addendum about 'Jeanne de Pausinne van Roomen', the fable of a female pope, which was originally published separately in 1587. In this edition 30 engraved portraits of historic figures are surrounded by a decorative border with devils, snakes etc. or angels, putto's etc. depending on the religious standing.Artists and Engravers: Florimond de Raemond (1540-1602) was a convert himself. In 1566 he witnessed an exorcism in Laon, France and he became Catholic. He then started prosecuting Hugenots.
