Antique print, titled: 'Beugelbaan.' - Several figures standing or seated on benches on a beugelbaan. 'Beugelen' was a folk sport, a ball game related to jeu de boules and croquet. The aim was to get a large ball through a hoop, using a wooden mallet. Etching, chine-collee on Wove paper. Description: Signed by the etcher in pencil below the image. Signed proof before titling. A remarque of a coat of arms with reed in the lower margin.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Willy Steelink' after 'Cornelis Dusart'. Willem Steelink, Jr. (Amsterdam, 1856-1928, Voorburg) was a Dutch painter and graphic artist, associated with the Laren School. He was inspired by the work of Mauve. Cornelis Dusart (1660-1704) was a pupil of Adriaen van Ostade. He specialized in highly finished works of art on paper with genre subject matter. Dusart made many prints in mezzotint, which resemble closely his washed pen drawings. Condition: Good, given age. Although quite stained in the margins and edges around the image, the image itself is clean and a nice impression. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
