Antique print, titled: 'De Binnen-Amstel - De Amstel bij schemering.' - A evening view of the Binnen Amstel, with a sail boat. The Binnen Amstel is a name used for the last part of the Amstel within the city Amsterdam. It shows the Halvemaanbrug and the Munttoren. Etching on wove paper. Description: Signed in the plate, lower left. This appears to be a proof before final lettering, as it later appeared published by Johan Enschede (Haarlem). Artists and Engravers: Made by 'E. Stark' after own design. Elias Stark (Rhenen, 1849-1933, Brussel) was a Dutch dentist and pharmacist. As such he is best known as the inventor of 'Stark Tandpasta' (Stark Toothpaste), one of the first toothpastes in a tube. However, he was also active as draughtsman, etcher and watercolourist. Condition: Good, given age. Some creasing and small tears in the left margin. Small foxing stains in the lower margin, minimal soiling in the right margin.
