Stipple engraving on thin china paper (chine collee) on wove (vellin) paper. Sheet size: 21,8 x 27,7 cm. (8,6 x 10,9 inch). Image size: 5,7 x 9,5 cm. (2,2 x 3,7 inch).Source unknown, to be determined.Made by William Holl after Abraham Wivell. William Holl, the elder (1771 1838) was an English engraver, thought to be of German background, and a political radical. Abraham Wivell (1786-1849) was a British portrait painter, writer and pioneer of fire protection, credited with inventing the first effective fire escape system.Condition: Good, given age. He holds shop in Overasselt, a small town on the Maas river near Nijmegen, The Netherlands, which can be visited by appointment. He is a member of the Dutch Association of Antiquarians (NVVA) and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).

We ship worldwide and package our items meticulously. We carry an umbrella insurance policy. Our shipment rates are based on shipments up to 1 kg. For heavier shipments we will contact you with a quote. Currently our surcharge for international shipments over 1 kg is 9,14 euro / kg. In addition POST NL temporarly charges 3,60 euro per kg due to CORONA related logistics. We ship by registered mail through POST NL. Expedited shipping or shipment through another carrier is available on request at a possible surcharge.
