Antique print, titled: 'Doorbraak tusschen Maren en Alem, 24 Maart. ' - This print shows a dike breakthrough between Maren and Alem, 24 March. Etching on wove (vellin) paper. Description: From: 'De Waterramp van 1855. Geschetst in 24 afbeeldingen & naar de natuur geteekend en geetst door leden der Maatschappij Arte et Amicitiae.', published in 1855. This collection of etchings was published by this Amsterdam Art Society in support of the flooding disaster of 1855 in the Netherlands. We also carry the complete set. George Andries Roth (1809-1887) was a Dutch painter and etcher of mostly wooded landscapes, city- and river views from Amsterdam. He was a pupil of G.P. Westenberg. Condition: Good, given age.
