Antique print, titled: 'Etait Dominus ad Eliam unges Hazael Regem […]' - Illustration to the Biblical narrative of Elijah. Here he stands on a winding dirt road. He holds an aureole over the head of Hazael, the recently crowned king of Syria. Etching/engraving on Hand laid paper. Description: From a set of prints based on frescoes made for the San Martino ai Monti, titled: 'I celebri freschi di Gaspare Possino nella chiesa di S. Martino a' Monti in Rome', Rome, 1810. Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Petrus Parboni' after 'Gaspard Poussin'. Petrus or Pietro Parboni (1783-1841)was an Italian engraver, specialized in Rome views. Engraved also many lanscape starting from other artists painting. Active in Rome in the first half of the 19th. century. Gaspard Dughet (1615-1675), also named Gaspard Poussin / Le Guaspre was a French landscape painter born in Rome. He was a pupil of Nicolas Poussin and the brother of Poussin's wife.
